Friday Music

It's Friday. I need music.

Only it's Thursday, but since I'll be on the road tomorrow, Friday Music will be a day early this week. I rode to work today, which is usually a good thing (especially on a beautiful day like this), but there was so much stop-and-go traffic that I've got arm-pump in my left arm. Less good! So I'll start the day with some Traffic.

As always, links are very much appreciated. I'd also like to invite anyone else to check out the music people suggest and of course to comment about it. (And welcome, Blogandters.)

Since you are hitting the road, these are good traveling tunes.

Willie Nelson - Highwayman
Merle Haggard - Pancho and Lefty
Cash - Folsum Prison
Primus - Southbound Pachederm

Or maybe:

Whitesnake - Here I go again
Night Ranger - Sister Christian

Anything from Graham Parker's "Squeezing Out Sparks"
Beginning to end, a great album.

I dunno how to make the link all fancy but a great driving song it Tragically Hip-Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin Man- just scroll down and listen.

Also Wih You Were Here-Incubus

Bob and Doug's 12 days of Xmas is not a good driving song but it always reminds me of being a kid in Canada. Wonder why?

hattica: I hit up Willie, Merle, Cash, and of course Night Ranger. Nice.

bad billy: Not bad -- and from the 'burgh!

rob: To like Elvis Costello is to like Graham Parsons. I found two songs from that album here. Awesome stuff -- great suggestion, thanks.

matthes: I can only hear a snippet of that song via that link, so once again the Hip eludes me. (Your dedication to this band is impressive.) Kicking Incubus now. Take off you hoser.

matthes: Happy birthday! I really like that song, especially the studio version. The Hip's live stuff on YouTube is pretty low-quality.

Supertram.
REO Speedwagon.
And the The Cars.

This is how it should be.

clash: Hinder - '80sish?; Cure '80s!; Warren - he's soooo much more than Werewolves, thanks for knowing that; Tori - probably the song I know best by her; Eve6 - the DM always liked this one; John Sebastian - How do I not know this guy? I LOVE this song and will learn more about him asap; The Who - I'm not a Who guy, but I'm trying. Thanks for the links, makes it so easy. Great list.

melissavina: You don't make Fridays, you just make Fridays better. I kicked "Breakfast in America," "Take It On the Run," and "You Might Think." If Supertramp can make prog rock work, why couldn't Yes? Thanks!

clash: Ah. Lovin' Spoonful. I guess I know him after all.

I knew you had him up there somewhere.:) That is a special song I dedicate to Donna and have it on my imaginary mixed-tape to her. The Who was one of my first albums so they hold a special place in my heart but my need to jam them comes and goes too. Ah, Warren. You are missed.

I look forward to Fridays to see the plethora of music to choose from. I dig everyone’s input and try as many as possible.

Great to see you and the DM at MXdN! Weege was right about your blog too.

SleekPelt said...

clash: Great to see you too, pal, albeit for such a short time. I'm glad you're digging RtN and are such a regular here.

matt: "There She Goes" is one of the bubbliest songs I've ever heard. I'll have in my head for the rest of the day. You posted the same link twice, but I found that Squeeze song -- it's one of my favorites, and that's saying something because Squeeze rules.

Hey B, I've been listening to "Redo the Stacks" all week - dig out the Centro-Matic if you still have it!

SleekPelt said...

jeff: Great suggestion, pal -- I have a Centro-matic album or two around here.
