So my caption didn't make the final three in the contest from a couple of weeks ago. I had struggled choosing one of these caps:
"It's the greatest living room on Earth."
or
"Can I get you some cotton candy?"
I thought the first one was just a bit too obvious and not particularly funny, so I went with the latter. I see that someone else made the final three with "Welcome to the greatest living room on Earth!" Hers is worded better than mine, but I still like the cotton candy one better.
On last week's toon, I went with "No, I don't want to play Duck Duck Goose!" which edged out "My kingdom for an omelet."
Here's the new cartoon. Feel free to post captions; I'll be putting mine up as I think of them.

"Maturity is really the only thing lacking in our relationship." Or "If I didn't have to wake up at three every morning to change his diaper..."
Nice, Geto Boy. On the way to work this morning I came up with: "This I can handle, but the diaper thing sucks." Yours is better. Also, "He lost his baby boomer binkie." I don't think that one is a winner, but I do think the artist was going for something baby boomerish. I'll keep thinking....
"He likes to take a power nap before addressing the board."
getto: Jesus Christ! I almost just spit granola all over the computer. Those are great.
Sleek: I think the diaper one could be a winner. The power nap is a good one too.
"I really struggle with the burping part"
or
"Looks like Farber had a late night"
Matthes: hahahahahahahaha!
matthes: That's great. Or maybe, "He's a bitch to burp."
"He's been so ornery since I put him on solid food."
or
"If he thinks I'm going to fall for the 'Hungry Baby' thing again, he's dreaming."
if: Ha! The hungry baby one is a winner! You've gotta submit that one....
All those are great!
This one is a bit obvious:
"He has really taken the therapist’s suggestion of 'Getting in touch with your inner child' to an entirely new level."
“I just put him down for a nap, but it wasn’t easy after he found out oil had hit ninety dollars a barrel.”
clash: I really like the last one, because it acknowledges the fact that he's in a suit.
"Well, at least I don't have to worry about saving for college, he already has a 401(k)"
OMFG! ALL of those are awesome you guys!
"He's still mad that they don't have an office nursery."
I submitted that 'Hungry Baby' caption. Even if it is good enough, being Canadian might disqualify me.
if: That would be a load of bullshit. Worthy of canceling my subscription.
I have have read the New Yorker, I have competed in this contest. The thing is most of the cartoons are not that funny. My theory is aim low, so I did this week I posted my entry which was not funny, very dry and predictable. This is my M.O. I will continue to aim low until I win the Gahan cartoon with my caption. That would be cool. It may take me several wins caption other artists, but the Gahan is my goal. Thanks for the tip.."He wanted a race car bed but this is all we could afford". This is not my entry mine is even less funny but I am attempting to reach their level of humor...I like the contest but the cartoons have always been to me about as humorous as, you have finished the article now turn the page.Filler if you will...However I am on the hunt! Kind Regards JW
"Isn't it silly? I mean, who sleeps in a suit?"
olive: That's great.
IF: The New Yorkers are Canadianists!
josh: Your tactic just might work.
