"And joy splashed by its smile
Transpierce me and flashes back at the bottom of me
But suddenly I push a cry among the laughter
When crowd comes to tear off it among my arms…"
Such a beautiful love song- especially sung in French.

Edith Piaf, reminds me of the scene in Saving Private Ryan when Jeremy Davies translates the love song from a record player they found in the town they made their last stand. Cool stuff.

getto: I didn't know the translation and unfortunately don't know French, so thanks for the enlightenment here.

josh: I love her so. She's lovely to listen to, but even better when you can watch her too. I've never seen that movie, though.

Classic. A fine choice, mate.

Edith Piaf's life-story is tragic and hopeful. This is a great tune, like so many of hers...

winters: I don't know much about Edith Piaf's story, but a co-worker of mine who's based in Paris mentioned that it's quite tragic. I look forward to learning more.
