Friday Music

It's Friday. I need music.

"Come in. Every night you enter me like a criminal. You break into my brain, but you're no ordinary criminal. You put your feet up, you drink your can of Pepsi, you start to party, you turn up my stereo. Songs I've never heard, but I move anyway. You get me crazy, I say 'Do it.' I don't care just do it. Jam me, jack me, push me, pull me, talk hard!"-- The Eat Me Beat Me Lady

"I like that. Talk hard. I like the idea that a voice can just go somewhere uninvited and just kind of hang out like a dirty thought in a nice clean mind. To me a thought is like a virus. You know, it can just kill all the healthy thoughts and just take over. That would be serious." -- Hard Harry

That would be totally serious.

So I start the day with "Wave of Mutilation" by The Pixies. Next?

Well, since we're going to see "Soup Kitchen" this eve, you could kick a little of that. Maybe it will also inspire you to get to work on your slideshow.

rob: That song is awesome, thanks.

geto boy: Just kicked both, and both take me back in the day, for sure.

dm: Good call, gospel it is. Billy's gonna save you yet!

"Everything's Gone Green"-New Order.

"Nautical Disaster"-Tragically Hip

"Uncovered"-The Watchmen

matthes: New Order -- eh, not my thing. I really like the Watchmen song. I don't know where to hear a decent recording of the Hip, and the stuff on YouTube just doesn't do them justice.

Sleek---go to thehip.com and click on the song of the day and scroll around. Good recordings with something different everyday!

BTW, did I mention that my wife and I are seeing them Oct 11th in Hollywood? YES YES YES!! It will be our 4th time on this tour.

olives: I can't help but hear you singing all those songs you mentioned!

Ooh, the Pixies are good.
Have you tried Pandora.com yet? You type in a song or an artist you like and it, by some mysterious genius, comes up with this magical playlist of songs you will love!

This is how I found most of my recent favorites.

You'll never be hungry for new music again.
What will you do on Fridays???

SleekPelt said...

rd: No! (Thanks, pal, I was beginning to wonder if anyone was with me on this one....)

melissavina: So happy to be typing your name again. Pandora has been my sweet baby for some time now. I have stations from The Pixies to Peabo Effing Bryson. Still, I prefer to get my Friday music fix from the living and the breathing. Deed I do.

Hello Sleek. Hope all's well with you, mate.

I'll go for a reggae classic - Social Living, by Burning Spear. It's good... I'd say even better than Bob Marley.

Cheers, and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Enjoy, yo!

olive: Okay, I kicked MJ earlier today. He's a creep, but the dude could pen a pop song.

SleekPelt said...

anon: I like Zappa as much as the next guy (who doesn't love Zappa), but this song is almost not even a song. Definitely has novelty value, though.

SleekPelt said...

winters: I can't find that number, mate, but there's lots of good Burning Spear on the YouTubes, including this. I've also been spinning a lot of Jimmy Cliff as of late.

~d: That Kirk Franklin business is off the hook! Your black angel hooked it up. And Beres Hammond just smoothed out my rough edges; thank you very much!
