Friday Music

After a couple of weeks on hiatus, Friday Music is back. I'm already all hopped up on caffeine, so I'm going to take this opportunity to hang out with Social Distortion for a while today. After that? Well, it's up to you of course, so you tell me....

B - You know me and poppy punk stuff, so I guess this isn't a big surprise. But, I really like the new Fall Out Boy album Infinity on High. I've got it in my iTunes if you want to give it a shot.

hoop: Thanks! I'll finish Social D's Prison Bound first, then I try Fall Out Boy. I've heard of those guys a lot, but I don't know if I've ever heard their music.

how 'bout a lil INTERPOL?

hoop: Wow, I'm very surprised by this album. Some of it is actually very cool, and some of it is a bit turd-muffinish, I think, but it's way more creative in general than I expected. I'll listen to it a few more times to see if the weaker songs grow on me. And full props to the Leonard Cohen-"Hallelujah" reference.

anon: Indeed, Interpol it is. Very nice suggestion for this Friday afternoon.

I'm on a Gram Parsons kick; including covers like "Sin City" from both Beck and Uncle Tupelo. There ain't nothing like the Grievous Angel!

chud: Always such a pleasure to see you at RtN, pal. My Gram Parsons Pandora station is kicking. We're starting with "A Song for You." Thanks for the suggestion.

Uhhh. Next Friday, If I remeber I'll have something real cool.

tine b: I was a bit concerned about Candi Staton at first, 'cause the first song sounded a bit discoish for my tastes, but she followed that up with some very nice, soulful songs.

Mugison, on the other hand, is amazing! Very much up my alley and I can't wait to hear more. Thanks!

anon: Silversun Pickups are pretty cool. They have a bit of a Smashing Pumpkins thing going on, and they also remind of a band I was into for a while called Jealous Sound.

josh: Feel free to leave it on this thread -- I'll check it next week too.

josh: I'm going to Millville this week, so I'm afraid Friday Music will be on hiatus once again. I'm always taking requests, though.
