Tech Decks and Click-Throughs

First it was Heelys, now it's Tech Decks. A couple of weeks ago I bought my son a pack of two finger boards. When we got home, he gave one of them to me with a "Here, Daddy, this is for you, to keep." Which was really sweet and was what I was secretly hoping he would do. Since then I've been bugging the DM as I click away at it all over the house. She hasn't said anything about it, but it's got to be annoying. I usually try to wait until she's not around, but sometimes I can't help myself. When she goes into another room, I start clicking at it like I'm sneaking in a smoke. This is just the latest in tickish things I like to do.

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I've learned to ollie, and I've also been thrashing on the bathroom bowl sink. Now that I can feel how it works, I can see getting much better at this thing.

Yes, I'm a dork.

----

I've added Google ads to RtN, which is kind of silly because it's just a personal blog with unimpressive traffic numbers. Still, I'm interested in click-through rates, as I have another site in mind where I would definitely want to use them. I also added an Amazon link to purchase my favorite book, A Confederacy of Dunces. If you've never read it, I suggest you do, no matter where you get it.

Update: Tonight the DM told me the Tech Decks will likely turn up missing soon.

I hope you land some cool tricks before they disappear.

My boy has been into Tech Decks for a while now. We've got the halfpipe and some other park pieces. It's really bad when you dig out the large mixing bowl to use as a pool. My idea! We have a designated Tech Deck area, and if we skate out of that area we get in trouble. I can't figure out why my wife doesn't like us using the dining table, kitchen counters, or hand rail to wall combo.

Off subject (because I don't know if I can come up with something to come back with on your new nerdy pursuit)

I swiped your friday music idea but gave you all the credit... Just posted it today, come on over!!

Yes, it was a great book. Sad that the author isn't alive.

hey instead of google adds use google analytics. its code you put in the html of your blog. gives you all the hits, where they live, browser etc... pretty cool. is this similar to google adds?

that's the kind of stuff, dalyn that makes want to know how to bounce my encripted signal off several servers like in the movie Sneakers.

clash: I'm still a bit off and on with the simple ollie, but if I have my way, I'll be doing more advanced stuff in no time.

geto boy: Many, young Arj needs to teach me some moves! I know he can whip both of our asses at those things.

melissavina: I'm honored. I've actually considered trying to make Friday Music a meme-based blog of its own before, but I've just never been sure if there would be enough people willing to take on the commitment. I'm going to be suggesting music out the wazoo on your posts if you make it a regular thing. I'll start this week.

m@: It's hard for me to think of what might have been. At least we got something significant, I suppose.

rd: Coffee itself has enhanced my world view oh so much.

day: I do use Google Analytics, and StatCounter too, actually. Google Ads are the little text advertisements that you see on my blog now in the siderails. It's silly to put ads on a little personal blog like this, because I don't get nearly the traffic I'd need to make any significant money. In fact, after four days of running ads, only three of them have been clicked, and my account is currently at $1.69. You don't get paid until your account reaches $100, so it'll be a while until I see a Google check. I don't think I'll be retiring anytime soon to live off of Google Ads. But I might want to use them for a future project, so I'm just sort of figuring them out on RtN.
