My mother-in-law came up with the best explanation for Roy yet -- a paintball. I don't know what a paintball would look like in near dark, but if it would have any kind of glow to it at all, then it's a perfect explanation.

As far as I'm concerned, the case is closed. I spoke with my friend Travis, who lives very near where I saw Roy (within a few hundred yards), and his car once got hit by a paintball. So the orb must have been a paintball shot by some punk-ass mo fo.
In case I forgot to mention it back then (when this post was new), that was some might good de-bunking you did. TAPS would be proud.
Remember the time you were starting to date some girl, and she was driving and you asked her to swing by NIOSH so you could pick up a check? She freaked out. You politely listened for a few minutes, then asked her to stop by Kroger becuase you has to get something. You then proceeded to get out of the car, walk home, and never speak to that girl again. When I asked you why you reacted that way, you explained that your new approach was to simply "zone out the bull shit." The very second it became clear that there was going to be a bunch of bullshit involved in any relationship, you were simply going to walk away. No regrets, no second thoughts.
That was one of my absolute favorite Stealey Stories.
BTW- Go see Iron Man. It was awesome.
