Check this out

This is a good friend of mine, Jamie Lester, a local sculptor's blog. Today they dedicated a statue of Jerry West that he had been commisioned to do, before the WVU-Seton Hall game. Really amazing stuff. http://www.lestersculpture.com/index.html

Poor Jaime. He still thinks he can make a living as an artist. He's quite the dreamer. Okay, so he's done a sculpture of some basketball player from WV... who just so happens to be the figure that the NBA logo is based on. Big deal. What else has he done?

Getto, I swear I almost posted about Jamie last night. Very cool that you beat me to it.

The statue is awesome. I'd still like to see the one he did of Anne Frank -- my little girl is named after Annelies Frank, so she means a lot to me. Does he still have that sculpture around?

oh...and he designed the new WV state quarter...
but other than that?

Actually the Anne Frank is sitting outside his entryway and I think there is even one at Tamamrack.

okay, and he's got a portrait of Anne Frank displayed at Tamarack, which happens to probably be the most visited art gallery in WV. But other than this and the aformentioned...I mean really...C'MON...

He'll never be able to make it as an artist in WV. Tell you what I'm gonna do. I'll make a couple of phone calls, pull a couple of strings, and maybe we can get him started in the warehouse...say next week?
