Ladytron: Destroy Everything You Touch - analogue synths, British accents, one of my favourite bands.
Gnarls Barkley: Gone Daddy Gone - almost identical to the Violent Femmes original, but the video is pretty funny. Until the end, where it's just... disturbing.

rd: Wow, brother, did you really just dig out that skeleton? Yikes. I listened to "Seasons Change," which has actually aged quite well, and "Let Me Be the One," which I now find offensively bad. I have no idea why I ever let you talk me into going to that concert!

g/julie: Nellie McKay -- wow. Really -- wow. I can't believe how difficult of a song this would be to play and sing live. This girl is like Tori Amos meets Rasputina meets Eminem. I've never seen anything like it and can't wait to see/hear more.
clash: Plain White Ts -- ah, the emo "Dust in the Wind." I like this song; Marcy Playground -- I like this song too, but the lyrics seem so random to me. I guess the line "Mama, this surely is a dream" explains that, though; White Stripes -- sounds like a Bad Company song, and the guitar at the end sounds like a kazoo; Fat Boy Slim -- this version kills Steve Miller's in my opinion. What a great cover. Zee, watch this.
teoh: The Smiths rule; Ladytron -- this is new to me. Pretty cool. It's sort of new-wave electronica. Gnarls -- I just listened to this album this week, great cover and an insane video. I like the part where the flea imagines he's in all those scenes with the woman; Erasure -- I don't mind this song. I interviewed the singer of the band a couple of years ago; The Caesars -- the guitar sounds like Smash Mouth, is it a sample? I wouldn't know about the video game; Curve -- Also new to me, and I really like it. I like how aggressive it is; Patrick Wolf -- I read about him and he's clearly got talent, though I'm not sure it's my thing; Magic Numbers -- I love this band and this album has been criminally overlooked, in my opinion; Raining Pleasure -- not bad, not blowing me away. Have to stop doing that. Ladytron: electro-clash is where it's at! I would love to see them live one day. Glad you liked Curve; they where majorly influential in the 90s.
teoh: Yeah, some music promoter called me and wanted to set up the interview, back in '05 when they had a new album out, and when I explained that we're a motorcycle magazine, she found some motorcycle angle to pitch to me. So I did the interview, and it turned out the dude had been on a dirt bike once when he was a kid, or something like that, and that was about it. It wasn't going to work so I canned it. And it was just a phone interview, though I thought it was strange that she actually gave me the Andy's home number to call. Normally on phoners, famous people call you, not the other way around. Oh, and now that you mention it, he kept talking about some South African dude who was real into orchids. I guess that could have been you....?

Townshend deep end live 1986 was the album I had and to tell you the truth ..I Put a Spell on You...was the only song I really listened to, it was a better live version than this as I recall or it is just what I am used to, but a great take.I was never a big Who fan (Townshend) but this is one of my favorites, a classic, and a few others,Give Blood and Eminence Front come to mind...Thats about it, I gotta get some sleep next Friday is just around the corner and I'm playing catch up...

IF: I'd never heard of Andy Bell either, before his publicist called. I of course knew who Erasure was but I didn't know of him. I checked out the Jill Scott song, and she's definitely got pipes. This song is a little over the top for me, maybe, but I'd like to hear some of her other stuff. I love Erykah Badu and Josh Stone, and this isn't too far removed from that sound. Thanks for the suggestions, it's never too late on Friday Music.
