Concert Vault

I recently found out about Concert Vault. It's got complete streaming concerts from tons of bands, most of which are free. I listened to a Black Sabbath show and a Cure show on Friday, and the sound quality on both was great. Awesome site.

Did you just get spammed? Thanks for pointing me to the vault. Are they bootlegs or official recordings, though?

Excellent link B. I just listened to Billy Joel's concert in the USSR and an early U2 show from Boston.

teoh: I did -- delete! Oddly, I didn't get an e-mail notification that the comment had been posted, like I usually do.

As for the site, check out this page. Here's an excerpt from it:

"The Concert Vault is fully licensed by BMI, ASCAP and SESAC, and we pay these performance rights organizations every time you listen to a concert. The license fees make their way back to the performers that made the music. Download revenues are also shared with performers and publishers as appropriate. One of our top priorities will always be to make sure that the artists are compensated for their performances."

geto boy: Nice -- I'll hit that Billy Joel up soon. I plan on spinning that Pink Floyd show from '77, which is listed as one of the top concerts, today, as well as The Band.

I just checked out Led Zeppelin at the Fillmore West
San Francisco, CA
04/27/1969
Set 1

I'm not much of a Zeppelin fan but I liked it. This is such a great site. I'm going to listen to Todd Rundgren's show next.

It would be cool to find a similar site that had more recent shows.

geto boy: Check out archive.org. It's mostly smaller bands, but there are some well-known jam bands on there. The Grateful Dead archives there are insane. I believe bands have to give permission for their music to be on here, too. It's mostly bootleg stuff of varying quality.

Oh, man, the Elvis Costello show from Winterland in San Fran, 1978, is remarkable. If anyone else here is a fan of the king, this is a must-listen.

clash: Me too! Since yesterday, I've listened to entire concerts by Pink Floyd, ELO, The Band, Meatloaf, The Cure, Black Sabbath, U2, and I may be missing a couple. This site is solid gold.

josh: I'd never doubt you! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you were the only person in the whole audience who didn't barf. And that live version of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" -- one of the best songs ever, in my opinion -- is stellar.

uty70: You got that right, bud. You've got good taste!
