Holy Hail!

What a storm we just had! I thought for sure my car was jacked, but it seems to be fine. The hail stones were sort of like small marbles. It was pretty intense!

  1. That was some freaky shit. It took me a minute to figure out what was pelting my skylights. I haven't seen hail since college at Kansas- always seemed to coincide with a tornado.

  2. getto: I hear you. We were wondering what the popping sound was. I thought it was our roof ready to blow off! Then we realized it was hail. I was freaked out. The dogs were really freaked out too. I was definitely thinking "tornado".

  3. getto and DM: I was thinking the same- that was crazy.
I live within a lot of oak trees and there have been times where we had to run the squirrels out of places; like any nook or crany in our home that they could get into. They basically rule their own little world down here and I thought to myself (because I would never tell anyone else that I was thinking this because they would definitly think I was messed up in the head to think that squirrels could do something like that) that there was a possibility we could suffer some consequences for pushing them around one day.
When I heard all of the pelting, I thought it was a bunch of acorns hitting the house and I told the kids to take cover! It's finally here.... The squirrels are taking over! I knew this day would come!!!! I KNEW!!!!
But, I looked outside and saw a waterfall of hail rolling off my roof. Safe for now I thought... Wild.

  4. Not only did we have the hail at my house, but my neighbor has a huge walnut tree that has already been littering the driveway with mini-walnut-grenades. When the hail came and also started knocking walnuts out of the tree at an even greater rate, I thought for sure the country was under attack. I was reading a book to my kids and waited 7 minutes before checking on it.

  5. I stood on my porch watching the storm and lightning struck just down the hill on Don Knotts Boulevard or thereabouts-- right near our house. It was a blinding flash and the thunder rattled my rib cage. My hair stood on end, and my skin smelled like a battery. It is the closest I have ever been to a lightning strike, like the caddy in caddy shack when the golfer gets hit by lightning-- right there next to it but not struck. And then the hail started.

dm: At least we had our flashlight ready.

jessie: That's one of the funniest things I've ever read.

fleming: That's also one of the funniest things I've ever read.

  8. Jessie: I concur. That was one of the funniest things I've ever read. You should do more writing.

Olives: Don't you wish you would've been here for that? I was so afraid that I put both kids in our bed. I was ready to lay down and start praying. Yeah, you know it's bad if I'm praying.

  9. I'm glad I was far away from that mess. Here in Denver it was a clear night... full moon... warm temps... I wouldn't have enjoyed that storm AT.ALL.

  10. bad billy: I knew you'd be commenting on that one! (And no, I didn't actually pray. I just thought I was going to.)

rd: Yeah, but you have earthquakes, which are like ground storms.
