    The Kinks: Father Christmas

I've always liked this one with Bowie and Bing Crosby.

Not a Christmas song, but I did not want the passing of Dan Fogelberg to go without notice. I did not realize how many of his that songs I knew. Any boy that has ever looked to his father for a reckoning can appreciate this one. Godspeed, Mr. Fogelberg.

  6. "Baby, it's cold outside" is one of my favorites. No, I'm not linking it cuz I can only pop in here briefly ;) So, deal.

    xoxo

Happy holidays to you, the Mrs and the munchkins =)

  7. Hmmmm...there is something suspicious about that "Adam Brown" character. I can't quite put my finger on it, though.

  8. zee: Starting things off with a little rock 'n' roll ... nice. We hope you and L have an awesome "first" Christmas, pal.

rob: That's really cool, but it's the longest version of that song ever! Good stuff though. Merry Christmas, Rob.

clash: That Kinks song is crazy!; The Bowie/Bing song rules, I love it too. My shortest shortie is real into Bing Crosby right now. "Mommy, why did Bing Crosby die on a golf course?"; Leave it up to U2 to write an epic Christmas song; I learned the Lennon song on guitar the other day. Christmas songs are almost all easy to play (and that's my favorite kind to play!); "Father Christmas" -- wow, that's some video; Nat King Cole -- a classic; Dan -- godspeed, indeed. I hope you guys have a great Christmas down in the GA.

  10. Well, hello and merry Kissmas to you and the DM! Sorry, I've been out of the blogloop of late. Here goes:

Queen: Thank God It's Christmas - sentimentality pulled off quite successfully by His Royal Highness himself.

The Knife: Reindeer - it truly is one of the most bizarre tracks I've ever posted here. Enjoy.

The Killers: A Great Big Sled - not only is it a great song, but it also features Toni Halliday, the screeching goddess from über-band Curve.

Madonna: Santa Baby - this was done for some long-forgotten Xmas charity compilation, if I remember correctly. Tongue-in-cheek as only Veronica Electronica could do it.

Erasure: She Won't Be Home - My favourite Christmas song ever, poignant and sad. The fan-made video is horrible, so rather just close your eyes and listen...

...and have yourself a merry little Christmas!

  11. wildflower: The shorties and I grooved hard-core to JB; I've never heard this Keene song, but it's a hoot. Great to see you last night -- Merry Christmas!

  12. valyna: I'm dealing! I listened to Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Jordan version, which rules. Great suggestion, this is the first time I've heard this song this year. Merry Christmas to you and Helskel as well!

  17. adam brown: Dude, it's about time! I asked you about that a month ago, and you're only now getting around to sending me the link? Meanwhile, I've been completely in the dark as to what to do to get my abs in shape.

zee: Yeah, that bastard is a procrastinator, that's what!

    clash: And to you, pal.

  18. teoh: Merry Christmas! I've also been very out of the blog loop. Queen -- pretty cool, I agree with your assessment as usual; The Knife -- wow, again, I agree!; Killers -- three songs, all new to me so far. I like this band and this is a cool Christmas tune, very U2ish imho; Madonna -- she's a natural at this number, and the vintage 'toons were an excellent addition; Erasure -- man, for your sake, I'm trying to find something to like about this band! I'm not sure it's working, though! ;). Thanks again, Teoh!

josh: If I'm not mistaken, you posted Leo on a very early Friday Music. This guy is cool, I'd like to hang out with him on a porch with a few beers one evening.

    missy: Merry Christmas!

geto boy: Ours was great! The kids got some cool loot and it's been somewhat relaxing. I hope yours was good, too!
