Friday Music

It's Friday. I need music.

The Blood Brothers announced yesterday that they're breaking up, so I start the day with "Set Fire to the Face on Fire."

What's next? As always, links are very, very much appreciated, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on music that gets posted.

Sleek, heard this on Sirius Vault yesterday and thought you'd appreciate it. I like Waters voice on this (and the later Floyd stuff).

Don't worry, Zee, I am still in agreement with you that all traces of Dark Side of the Moon should be blasted to... well.. the moon.

  2. I will listen to Roger happily -- but, oh ... oh no ... my heart has failed. You've desecrated the sacrament of RtN with your Dark Side comment. Is there a priest around who can exorcise this post? Zee? You?

  5. Damn.  I really would've like to see The Blood Brothers live.  Guess that's not gonna happen.  Anyway, you should definitely check out the new Beirut album.  I love this song, which is on the album.

  8. Sorry Pal, DSotM drives me crazy. I cringe everytime I hear a cash register. You may not remember it, but we had this conversation in the early 90s. I think you purged it from you memory. All that being said, I did see Pink Floyd in concert in Philly and, while I was never a huge fan, it was a hell of a concert and I'm glad I saw it.

Did you remember to check out Zolar X's Myspace Jawn?

  9. RZ: Always time for RW and I like that video but I'm with Sleek on the DSofM....ouch.

Olives: I'm hip-hop ignorant, but did like Mary J's tune.

Anon: Did Hugh Hefner shoot that?

DM: Beirut has a unique sound and after listening to Nantes, I watched quite a few more videos and Elephant Gun is my fav thus far.

  10. rob: "Pros and Cons" always reminded me of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, thanks to the backup singers. I'm a fan of Roger's solo career and like this song.

olive: Excellent choices all around for hip hop Friday. The Roots are possibly my favorite modern hip hop band. Thanks!

    More later....

  12. clash: Peterson -- I'd never heard this, cool song. I'm going to have to check out the Vedder version; Play Radio Play -- this is also new to me, and I love it. Who are these guys? Reminds me a little of Angels and Airwaves; Tesla -- I still know every nuance of that song; Rafferty -- gotta say that was never one of my favorite songs.

  13. dm: That new Beirut album is awesome. Slightly less Eastern European than the one before it.

  14. valyna: I also love when people post on Friday Music posts late, so it's never too late.

zee: Sure did. They look like Edgar Winters? Either that, or Jackie Rogers Jr., one of Martin Short's characters on SNL. I'm going to have to spend some more time with these guys before I know what to think of them.

  15. anon: Hmm, I can't seem to remember this video ... I think I'm going to have to watch it again! For a laugh, read the viewer comments on that video.

clash: So stoked to see you respond to others' suggestions! All are welcome to do the same.

uty70: Welcome! I prefer their heavy stuff, but I like this one too. Especially at the end when it rocks out. Sorry to hear you lost your soccer game, bud!
